Meet the Inventor

Erno Rubik was born on July 13,1944 in Budapest Hungary. His father,Erno Rubik Sr., was an engineer who designed gliders during his whole life with enthusiasm. Because of his dedication to work, he became the number one in his profession in Hungry.His mother was a poet. He is now married and has four children. In elementary school Erno's favorite subject was math, especially geometry. He would spend hours solving math problems for fun. Erno has lived in Hungry for his whole life. He graduated as an architectural engineer and began post- graduate studies in sculpting and interior architecture.He was self employed until 1970, when he worked at the Department of Interior Design at the Academy of Applied Arts and Crafts in Budapest, Hungary.
Some of Erno's hobbies are, gardening, reading, doing sports, sailing, table tennis, and discovering nature. A significant event that occured in his life was when he was his countries richest citizen before reaching the age of 40 and he invented the rubik's cube.

Erno Rubik created the Rubik's Cube. The Rubik's Cube was invented in 1974. It took three years for the Rubik's Cube to be invented and approved. Rubik's initial attempt to use elastic bands failed, and his solution was to have the blocks hold themselves together by their shape. This invention has impacted society postitively because it is has become known as "America's favorite toy," and children love the excitement that the Rubik's Cube gives them when one slide can change the game. The Rubik's Cube has affected society negatively because of the frustration and concentration that you must go through to solve the Rubik's Cube.

Some major accomplishments that Erno Rubik has achieved are that he founded his own company "Rubik Schlarship Foundation" , which gives financial assistance to young Hungarian designers for their studies abroad. He also is the founder of Rubik Studio Ltd., and since then he is its managing director. He also became the Professor of Honor at the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts.
Erno Rubik took part in founding the Hungarian Academy of Engineering, of which he is the Honorary President.
He's also co-founder and managing director of A&D Studio Ltd. and the Palace of Miracles.
Erno Rubik is a special person because he has created something that is known around the world that challeges people's minds and is fun, which is hard to do. He has not only changed the world with his invention, but with his love for the field of architecture and design.
Today the Rubik's cube is a small toy full of frustration and excitement when you solve it. Many people have found solutions to the Rubik's cube but one thing for sure is it has tricked us all.
